    Toronto's Waterfront

We are working with one of their Condo Corporation members, 401 Queen's Quay to discuss changes with Waterfront Toronto regarding their plans to construct the first of 5 bridges at the Spadina Footbridge.  An artist concept has been designed as illustrated below showing the the unnecessary blockage of the Waterfront view from the wavedeck.  These owners also feel the bridge is an invasion of their privacy and a blatant eyesore.  COA-TS will continue to take the position to have Waterfront Toronto withdraw plans for this bridge at Waterfront and consider changes to their initial concepts.

 BEFORE THE BRIDGE

This photo provides you with a gorgeous view of Toronto's Waterfront and its available waters for boats and ships to meet with Queen's Quay.  These present conditions allow a lovely  unobstructed  view of the Waterfront directly from  Queen's Quay at the Spadina Footbridge and Wavedeck.  Local residents and visitors can enjoy Toronto's Waterfront at their leisure and neighbourhood residents who live within this immediate condo building can continue to enjoy the surroundings as they have in the past.  There are several residents, visitors and tourists who stroll along the waterfront without concern as to whether they are walking a straight line along the watersedge but simply enjoying our Toronto's Waterfront.

  AFTER THE BRIDGE

Toronto's Waterfront is completely blocked at the Spadina Footbridge.   All you can see is this large timber built bridge.  This unsightly image creates a problem for all of us and especially for the 401 Queen's Quay residents who have paid premiums for their waterfront view.  We are going to experience a dramatic change if Toronto Watefront moves forward with this design.  We have been informed that Waterfront Toronto's designs is geared to their belief that "walking a straight line along the waterfront" is a primary concern and the request of Toronto residents.

COA-TS believes this request could be geared to certain parts of the Waterfront but certainly not at the Spadina Footbridge.  This bridge is the smallest of the 5 planned bridges.  We believe that funding should be used in a higher density area of the Waterfront to ensure maximum use and benefits.  COA-TS also believes that in view of the 2015 Pan Am games, Waterfront Toronto must make changes to their original plans in consideration of the additional high traffic, tourism and  requirements this event will need.
