FIGHT HST FOR CONDO OWNERS

COND EXPENSES WILL INCREASE APPROX. 7% AND IMPACT CONDO OWNERS MAINTENANCE FEES

Dear Condo Owner and Corporation Board of Directors

Please join our  membership as we lobby Government for changes.  Time is of the essence, we need to fight the HST.

HST  The 13% HST rate is 13% is the harmonized tax of  the Federal component HST 5% and the 8% PST Provincial component.  At the present time, the majority of a Condominium Operating Budget has 5% HST on their services contracts etc.  There is limited costs associated with 8% PST.  Once the HST is implemented all of the following will be subject to an additional 8% tax.  On calculation, it is estimated that the increase to Condominium Corporation budgets will be 7% therefore maintenance fees will increase by approximately 7% just to cover the HST

The following are an example of 13% HST expenses whereas previously they were only 5% HST

*    Property management Contracts

*    Security Contracts * Legal * Accounting * Auditor

*    Cleaning & Maintenance Contracts

*    Repairs and Services Contracts

*    Hydro and Utilities (water exempt)

We wish to thank you for your interest.
